2019 5th Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts
What kind of arts festival is this? It is an independent and privately funded arts festival supported and initiated by many.
The Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts (TTTIFA) recaptures the 1920s spirit of the Dadaocheng area of Taipei. That was the Roaring 20’s, a time of free expression. How can those of us living in 2019 travel back in time to experience it?
Tua-Tiu-Tiann was Dadaocheng’s former name. This is an area of historic streets and buildings that link specialty industries of past and present. How can we showcase Dadaocheng’s features through artistic creations, while keeping our finger on the world’s pulse? How can this arts festival connect the international and the local? Can artistic creations give rise to energy or discussion?
Based on the efforts to answer these questions, this festival is now entering its fifth year. This is the first time that we have boldly proposed the concept of jointly curated street exhibitions. Three themed programs intersect in Dadaocheng’s present. Through the Time Machine Theater – 1920s Costume Parade, we tap into this area’s Roaring 20s spirit, while “street gatherings” encourage the expression of local creativity and characteristics.
TTIFA, under the free flow of consciousness, incorporates different voices and ideas. From inside to out, TTTIFA brings the Dadaocheng we know to life one event at a time!
Established in 2013, Thinkers’ Theatre is based in Dadaocheng where there is access to rich historical and cultural information. Located in a nearly 100-year-old building that once housed a Watson’s pharmacy, it is infused with modern design concepts. Its core members have developed this platform, exchange venue and dream space for creatives based on the spirit of service. Artists from various disciplines gather to think, discuss and debate, igniting creative sparks.
▍30 ART original
30 ART Original is dedicated to three major areas, art and cultural exhibition curation, cultural promotion and reuse of space. Using brand imaging, arts and culture have revived this area into a “theater den”, while spreading the message that everyone is an artist at heart.
Earthing Way blends the new and old, selling selected Taiwanese-style products. At the same time, as a creative, it organizes or participates in various art and cultural exhibitions, performances and activities. Its creative concepts are based on the incorporation of Taiwanese cultural elements, to develop uniquely Taiwanese lifestyles and esthetics.
