Phitthaya Phaefuang "Realness: Mum"

"Realness: Mum" is a solo performance performed by the 2019 TTTIFA resident artist Phitthaya Phaefuang (Sun) from Thailand. During the residency, Sun studies the culture and memory of the sex industry in Dadaocheng(大稻埕) region. Having sex siren, one of the categories from ball culture, as a main theme, Sun tries to how could sex sirens connect to the sex industry worldwide.

Introduction of Performer/ Troupe

Phitthaya Phaefuang, nickname Sun, was born in Phichit, Thailand. Sun graduated from Oslo national academy of the arts, faculty modern and contemporary dance in 2011. Besides being trained in Modern dance, Jazz, ballet, he likes challenges and has been trained in other dance forms too. Four years ago, Sun started to learn vogue, and are today a voguer as well as a part of the vogue and ball culture in Asia.
Today, Sun is interested in the concepts of gender performance, and he is inspired from how the vogue and ball culture is playing with those ideas. He tries to use gender performance as a contrast to go against a lot of the social norms and conservatism ideas.
