Sun, one of this festival’s artists-in-residence, leads participants in understanding body-related vocabulary and roles/gender role relationships and discussing the relationships between the body and roles in everyday life.

Introduction of Performer/ Troupe

Phitthaya Phaefuang, nickname Sun, was born in Phichit, Thailand, but was growing up in Norway since the age of 3. Sun graduated from Oslo national academy of the arts, faculty modern and contemporary dance in 2011, and moved back to Bangkok until now. In Asia, he has been working with artists such as Pichet Klunchun, Tang Fu Kuen, Daniel Kok, Jereh Leung, Maya Dance Theatre, etc. Beside being trained in Modern dance, Jazz, ballet, he likes challenges and has been trained in other dance forms too. Four years ago, Sun started to learn vogue, and are today a voguer as well as a part of the vogue and ball culture in Asia. He started to build a vogue and ball scene in Thailand in 2018. Today, Sun is interested in the concepts of gender performance, and he is inspired from how the vogue and ball culture is playing with those ideas. He tries to use gender performance as a contrast to go against a lot of the social norms and conservatism ideas.
