He has a double degree in Political Science and Accounting from National Taiwan University, a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and a PhD in Social Sciences and International Relations from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He specializes in international relations theory, East Asian regional politics, national security and military strategy and cross-strait relations and studies of China.
